When i first started this module i didn't realize how much more there was to CMYK and print production, i struggled to understand the different processes at the beginning of the module.
It was only when i began produces print outs using different processes i began to understand it more, trial and error. I used these new learnt skills and began printing onto a range of stock such as sugar-paper, watercolour, tracing paper and vinyl to
see what worked and what didn't. I used this trial and error method whilst producing my outcome for the design4print brief this helped me make appropriate decisions when it came to thinking about what colour, processes and stock to use for my
outcome of the brief.
Again i started fairly lost at the beginning of design4print and found myself deciding on an idea that i was fond of and tried to force this to answer the brief, it left me struggling and stressed because i had developed this initial idea and knew in my mind what i wanted to produce but it didn't have any message. This lead me back to the drawing board where i looked at who i wanted my target audience to be and how i intended to approach them? inform? humour? scare? interact?
When i had finally decided on an initial idea, i began to develop it and look at the different possibilities of print and stock that would be appropriate for the final designs, this is where i used what i had produced in the colour4print brief to help select an appropriate outcome, this helped me narrow down my development to produce a welcome pack for students containing visual interpretations of hazards within a household informing students to be more aware of health and safety.
I am happy with the final outcome overall but i should have managed my time better, researched at an earlier stage and been far more organized. I set myself allot to produce and wasn't realistic about if it was manageable or not? I did manage to produce thirty print outs on both matt vinyl and envelope stock however because i didn't manage my time, my final print onto my welcome pack got jammed in the printer and i didn't have enough time to print again! The same happened with four of my DPS for the colour4brief, although i had produced all six i left it to late relying on a printer which didn't print out in enough time for me to hand in, ive posted them on my blog but i just feel so annoyed at myself for not printing them off earlier?!
For future reference i will be more organized and manage my time, making an action plan and following it my main priority and to be more throe with my research.
